MONSTER MANUAL MONDAY 7

More undead after yesterdays skellies. This time a pair of Ral Partha mummies, stumbling forward ready to paralyse anybody foolish enough to get in the way. Nice and easy, linen paint from Coatd'arms with a wash of the late lamented Devlan Mud (why oh why did GW drop that wash)? Cynical anti corporate answers welcome to that last question.

  1. I've got some old Citadel Mummies waiting to be painted. I actually don't mind Devlan's replacement ('Agrax Earthshade', I think): it does the job well enough for me!

    1. I look forward to seeing the mummies Gareth. Yes I suppose Agrax Earthshade is almost the same, but Devlan mud really was the dogs danglies for shading just about anything....

  2. I'm 99.9% certain that Army Painter Strong Tone Ink (not to be confused with their big tins of tinted varnish) _is_ Devlan Mud just rebottled. Likewise their Soft Tone Ink appears to be the old sepia and Dark Tone Ink is Badab Black.

I agree that Agrax is nowhere near as good as Devlan.

  3. Thanks Coopdevil. I have tried the AP strongtone and it is good, but in my experience it doesn't seem to flow quite so well as Devlan mud did, into all the little crevices, and dries less evenly. Still, it's interesting to try all these different products out.
