MORE HARADRIM INFANTRY

I've completed the Haradrim infantry for the Minas Tirith'84 project. Joe Dever's army lists state 35 figures, but to make 2 equal units I did 36.

The new chaps have spears and are again Hinchliffe Yonderly Men, soon to be back in production.

And below, with the scimitar armed unit shown previously.

MEN OF RINGLO VALE

Back to Hinchliffe figures for the 300 men of Ringlo Vale. Generic medieval types with generic medieval haircuts from the Robin Hood range again. There's no description of colours so instead of greens and browns I opted for something slightly different which reminded me of some painted Airfix figures I had as a child.

PRINCE AND MEN OF DOL AMROTH

More of the goodies, the Prince of Dol Amroth, his knights and men at arms. All Essex Miniatures, which were around in 1984 and still hold up well against modern sculpts. They are always a pleasure to paint scrubbing up well in an old school style or contemporary grubby finish.

These 13th century men at arms remind me of some of Gary Chalk's illustrations.

I used the figure recommended by Joe Dever in the article for The Prince of Dol Amroth with his swan crest. The banner is cut up tomato puree tube.

Another Essex figure representing the knights.

FISHER FOLK OF ETHIR

A single figure constitutes this unit, this time a Heritage figure from their DKF range, listed as a Fisherman of Ether.

The face came out a bit wonky, not sure if it was the casting or my painting.

MEN OF MORTHOND

500 Bowmen of Morthond, again Hinchliffe Robin Hood range. The defenders of Minas Tirith are quite fun to paint as a 5 figure unit is the largest according to the army lists in White Dwarf 53.

I've finished press moulding the Rohirrim shields so they are ready for undercoating.

MEN OF PINNATH GELIN

I thought I'd better post some finished good guys, as I have been making progress with the defenders of Minas Tirith. Here we have the Men of Pinnath Gelin, described as "300 gallant green clad men". I've drawn heavily on the Hinchliffe Robin Hood range ( now available again from Lancashire Games). They fit the right time frame for the battle article, and are larger and chunkier than other Hinchliffe historicals. I trimmed off the bows and quivers and added some Essex shields.
