A study in practical nostalgia, travelling back to the early 1980's with a fistful of cash, to buy all the stuff I couldn't afford on a paperboys salary.
I also use the W&N High Gloss spray varnish. I find a can lasts me a year at least, which appeals to my frugal sensibilities. I've used yacht varnish for 'water effects' (see the marshes on my blog), but, my god, the smell! The little lady was not amused...
Mmmmm, when not snacking on Black Sun gobbos they just lurvvvv jelly beans and other confectionary. Basing is my biggest bugbear....I can never decide how to texture, what size to use and spend hours rebasing figures I've never used. I think I've cracked the texture thing here, and however I colour them (eg. my blue Newhammer style) they still sort of meld together. If I was smart like you, I would just use the same method for all as it is highly effective....but that's too simple for my warped mind.
Love the gloss look on them.
ReplyDeleteI really prefer the shiny look...these guys are done with Wnsor and Newton spray, but I also use yacht varnish sometimes for that really glassy look.

DeleteShiny happy wyverns if ever I saw them😊
ReplyDeleteVery striking. You're certainly on a roll at the moment!
ReplyDeleteTruth be told I took a heap of photos together and am posting them every so often....the illusion of industry shattered.
DeleteThey look great and rather cute! I just want to feed them jelly beans! And I love the basing too!
