A study in practical nostalgia, travelling back to the early 1980's with a fistful of cash, to buy all the stuff I couldn't afford on a paperboys salary.

MORE HARADRIM INFANTRY
I've completed the Haradrim infantry for the Minas Tirith'84 project. Joe Dever's army lists state 35 figures, but to make 2 equal units I did 36.
The new chaps have spears and are again Hinchliffe Yonderly Men, soon to be back in production.
And below, with the scimitar armed unit shown previously.
Shiny happy Haradrim! They look great. I really like the shields on the spearmen. They so look the part. I can’t wait to see what is coming next...a mumakil, fingers crossed. P.s did you post a copy of the article that inspired this project?
Thanks. The swordsmen have the same shields, black drybrushed gold, washed with Agrax Earthshade and drybrushed gold again. Mumakil not too far away. I haven't posted the article yet... must do that.
Superb looking units. I agree with the others - the shields really are effective. They look suitably Haradrimmy (I know, a made up word!) and go well with the other figures you have so far painted.

DeleteGreat work, the simple colour scheme is so effective. I agree with Alan about the shields too.
ReplyDeleteSimple colour scheme nice and quick to get finished. I now own the masters to this range, and Peter Gilder used a fancy button to make these shields!

ReplyDeleteThey have a Hollywood Saracen look which I like and imagine is how JRRT envisaged them.
