A study in practical nostalgia, travelling back to the early 1980's with a fistful of cash, to buy all the stuff I couldn't afford on a paperboys salary.

WISTMAN'S WOOD
Managed to get back to one of my favourite places yesterday, WISTMAN'S WOOD on Dartmoor. Last time I was there was 20 years ago. I took a few pictures for terrain reference.
They are rather good. My oldest son has pinched my CDs though. There is so much good music out there it can be a bit overwhelming. Really into Green Lung at the moment.
VERY atmospheric indeed , very Middle Earth
ReplyDeleteYes, I did spot some Huorns lurking in the distance.
ReplyDeleteIf you build it they will come...
ReplyDeleteLooks like a good place for my orcs to hang out.
DeleteLovely pictures, such modelling inspiration. As if you had stepped into a John Bauer picture...
ReplyDeleteThanks Alan. I certainly felt as if I was in the Troll Wood.
DeleteWonderful pictures, Last time I was on Dartmoor was on a fieldtrip in the mid-80s!
ReplyDeleteFirst time I came to these woods was on a field trip... Many moons ago.
DeleteFantastic stuff. Very evocative and 'Age of Arthur' springs to mind ...
ReplyDelete...and thanks for the tip on 'Grand Magus'. I'd never heard of these guys and they are awesome!
